Esteemed member of the Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO), Peggy LeCorgne Laborde has been named JLNO’s 59th Sustainer of the Year.

Since 1958, JLNO has presented the prestigious Sustainer of the Year Award to a sustaining member who exemplifies the organization’s educational and charitable mission. Recipients of this honor have demonstrated a commitment to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through their commendable action and leadership.

As a member of JLNO since 1983, Peggy has steadfastly served the greater New Orleans community in many capacities. Previous Sustainer of the Year Award recipient, Susan Johnson, noted that Peggy “has effectively demonstrated the success of her League training by her involvement in various areas of volunteerism and many organizations in our community are all the better for it.”

Peggy continues to volunteer today with a long list of New Orleans charities including Women of the Storm, the Lake Ponchartrain Basin Foundation, Children’s Hospital, the Audubon Institute, the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony, the Red Cross, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the United Way, the Catholic Foundation, Lambeth House, and Friends of the Cabildo.

Nominations for the Sustainer of the Year award come from JLNO’s Sustaining and Active membership. A committee then reviews nominations and letters of support to determine the award recipient.
