Genia Browder serves as the Director of the Women’s Business Resource Center at the Urban League of Louisiana. She has been an entrepreneur and has worked with economically disadvantaged businesses in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, before returning to New Orleans in 2017.
As a Business Development Specialist and Plan Room Manager with the City of Austin’s Small Minority Business Resources Department for 3 years, she was instrumental in promoting women and minority contractors to bid on and receive city contracts.
Genia was then offered a leadership position with the Department of Transportation (TXDOT) in San Antonio, to facilitate diversity and participation among state highway minority construction contractors. In this role, Genia and her team conducted classes at the University of San Antonio and successfully certified over eighty small minority -owned companies to procure millions of dollars in state and federally funded transportation contracts.
Upon returning home to New Orleans, Genia became the DBE Compliance Manager for TRANSDEV, in service to the Regional Transit Authority.
Ms. Browder has counseled and certified hundreds of small disadvantaged businesses and now continues her work to support women- and minority-owned businesses seeking entrepreneurial training, counseling, and resources to start and grow their businesses.
Genia is a native New Orleanian who has a Political Science degree from the University of New Orleans.
