Evie Poitevent Sanders

Following careers in journalism and family small business ownership, Evie currently serves as Human Capital Manager at Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), the regional economic development organization for the 10 parishes of Southeast Louisiana. In addition to supporting new business attraction and local business retention and expansion projects, Evie oversees talent attraction and retention initiatives such as GNOmatch, GNOu: Employer Connections, and the Remote Worker Program. Additionally, she provides recruiting, talent pipeline development, employer connections, and workforce development support to regional business and industry, higher ed partners, and community training partners. Evie also delivers talent orientation and acclimation services to new companies, relocating executives, and trailing spouses, and co-manages strategy and content for quality of life platform Destination GNO, regional job and talent board Work Nola, and other digital quality of life resources. 

A graduate of New Orleans’s inaugural cohort of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program (2011), Evie ran her family’s business, Feet First shoe stores, for 12 years prior to joining GNO, Inc. She is an active member of the Junior League of New Orleans, where she has held several leadership positions, including serving on the board of directors (2019-2020) and as co-chair of the inaugural Women’s Leadership Summit, Presented by Ochsner Baptist (October 20, 2020). She served for four years on the board of the Magazine Street Merchants Association, and for eight years on the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholars Foundation Selection Committee for the State of Louisiana. Evie also served as co-chair of both the annual Dress for Success “Suits & Salads” luncheon fundraiser (Spring 2017) and the “Just Say YAYA” youth arts program gala (November 2017), generating record revenues for both at that time, and was honored as a 2013 Women of Fashion honoree and a 2014 American Cancer Society “Belle.” In 2018, Evie graduated from the New Orleans Business Alliance’s Economic Development Ambassadors Program and the City of New Orleans’s Civic Leadership Academy. She also was selected to participate in Loyola University’s Women’s Leadership Academy (Spring 2021). 

Evie lives with her husband Lem, daughter Millie, and Golden Retriever Flambeau in New Orleans. When she’s not working on economic development or women’s training and leadership development, Evie focuses on growing her side business of selling USDA-certified organic, made-in-the-USA, high-quality CBD products by Green Compass Global.
