Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

JLNO welcomes all women who value our Mission. We believe that bringing diverse women together strengthens our work in the community. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment through our partnerships, strategy, and member experience.

A candidate for membership must:

•  23 years or older as of May 31.

•  reside in the New Orleans area (within a 45-mile radius of JLNO Headquarters at 4319 Carondelet Street). Attendance at a New Orleans school by an out-of-town student does not constitute such residence. Please note that prospective members are no longer required to have lived in the area for a full year before joining JLNO.

•  be able to fulfill the New Member requirements which are briefly outlined below.

•  possess an interest in voluntarism, a commitment to community service, and an interest in developing her potential as a volunteer and leader.

•  have access to an email account in order to receive JLNO communication.

JLNO offers a meaningful yet manageable commitment designed to fit into your life while making a real impact. Members contribute approximately 40 hours of service within their assigned placement, plus an additional 10 hours supporting League projects and initiatives, including at least 2 hours with the JLNO Diaper Bank. Throughout the year, you’ll also complete 4 hours of annual training to build leadership skills. It’s a rewarding way to give back, grow personally, and be part of something bigger.

In addition to their time, members make a financial commitment through annual dues and support of the League’s Money to Mission fundraising efforts, all of which directly sustain the organization’s impact in the community.

If you were once a member of JLNO and want to reconnect with us, email secretary@jlno.org and request reinstatement. If you were a member of a Junior League in another city, we welcome you as a transfer. Your transfer request must be initiated from your previous League, so please contact them directly.

Sustainers are women who have completed their active service with the Junior League of New Orleans and continue to champion its mission through mentorship, philanthropy, and community engagement. They are the League’s legacy builders—supporting new members, guiding initiatives, and strengthening the impact of JLNO across Greater New Orleans.
