SAFE SITTER® prepares boys and girls ages 11 to 13 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The Junior League of New Orleans teaches it in collaboration with The Parenting Center at Children’s Hospital.
The curriculum is medically accurate and developmentally appropriate and includes the following:
- Basic life-saving techniques for choking infant/child and first aid
- Safety precautions to prevent accidents
- How and when to summon help
- Tips on basic child care
- Introductory employment skills
Schedule & Fee:
Single day SAFE SITTER® classes are available on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer. Classes are held at JLNO’s Headquarters at 4319 Carondelet Street in Uptown New Orleans. Please note that classes may be shifted to a digital format depending on orders from public health officials. Classes are $60 per student. There will be 20 students per class, separated into groups of 5 to allow maximum social distancing.
